Fleet Feet Training Program Book Drive
Every year, Fleet Feet Sports Carrboro & Durham help hundreds of runners achieve their running goals through their various training groups. From the 5k to the marathon, Fleet Feet has seasonal training programs to meet everyone’s needs. But the most compelling element of the training programs isn’t the workout design, the route planning, or race guidance – it’s the people that make up the programs. From the coaches to the pace group mentors and participants, Fleet Feet has created a vibrant community of runners that support one another in their running goals and beyond. And on Saturday March 11th the Fleet Feet running community came together to support early literacy in Durham.
Runners arrived for their Saturday long run with a few extra items in hand: books! The 3 training programs (No Boundaries 5k, 4 & 10 Mile, Half & Full Marathon) joined forces to host a book drive for First Pages. Runners brought new and used children’s books and made monetary donations to support the early literacy work of First Pages. Together these weekend fitness warriors donated 96 books and $110 to help improve early literacy support in the city they run in.
